Bushfire Assistance

RSL NSW logo

Dear RSL Members,

Throughout the last few months, the devastating bushfires have continued to burn across New South Wales. This is a terrible tragedy that has impacted thousands of families, their homes and in many cases, their livelihoods.

Over the Christmas break, many sub-Branches have looked for ways to support veterans and their families in bushfire affected areas. We share your concern and desire to help in any way possible. To provide coordination of these efforts, RSL NSW is asking that District Councils and sub-Branches who wish to help follow the process outlined below. Option 1 is for sub-Branches in the bushfire affected areas to request support for veterans and their families. Option 2 is for sub-Branches looking to make a financial contribution.

Option 1: Sub-Branches Seeking Support to Provide Relief to Impacted Veterans and Their Families

For District Councils and sub-Branches in the impacted areas who know of and would like to assist local veterans and their families, please contact the support unit on support@rslnsw.org.au or 1300 679 775.

The support unit will provide you with a simple form you need to complete for any local veterans accessing the emergency fund assistance

Once the completed form is received back, the support unit will pass it to RSL DefenceCare.

RSL DefenceCare will organise for vouchers to be despatched to the requesting sub-Branch. The sub-Branch can then distribute directly to veterans and their families in the local community who need access to essential items such as food, clothing, supplies and petrol.

Option 2: For sub-Branches Making Contributions to the Disaster Assistance Fund

If your sub-Branch and its members would like to assist RSL DefenceCare in its efforts to provide support to veterans and their families impacted by the bushfires, you can make a contribution to RSL NSW using one of the below options:

  • Account Name: RSL NSW
  • BSB: 062 016
  • Account Number: 00000741
