Circular 25/21 New dates and details for 2021 State Congress and AGM

Further to Circular 21/21 in relation to State Congress and Annual General Meeting (AGM) at Newcastle Exhibition and Convention Centre (NEX), I am now in a position to provide an update.

Considering the COVID-19 pandemic and associated restrictions, and with a view to hosting a face-to-face event, the RSL NSW Board has made the decision to postpone the State Congress and AGM to 6 and 7 December 2021 at the same venue.

The venue’s usual capacity can accommodate the meeting in full, however considering NSW Government regulations, the 4 square metre rule per person heavily impacts the event capacity. Therefore, the meeting will only be open to eligible delegates with no allowance for alternate delegates or observers. There are two types of delegates:

• Sub-Branch delegate with voting rights
• District Council delegate with no voting rights

Registration for eligible delegates will open on Monday 16 August 2021. More information on how to register will be issued via Circular closer to this date.

In accordance with the RSL NSW Constitution Appendix C Clause 2, motions are now due for submission by 28 September 2021 for review and consideration by the Congress Agenda Committee.

The current stay-at-home order is affecting some sub-Branch meetings and therefore the ability to submit motions with sub-Branch endorsement. Please refer to Circular 21/21 for clarification on how motions can be submitted. Evidence may be provided by submitting minutes of the meeting endorsing the motion to the State Secretary prior to this date.

We encourage you to ensure your travel and accommodation bookings are flexible to avoid cancellation fees in the event that the face-to-face event cannot proceed in December. A virtual contingency plan for the events is in place.

Please note the new date that ANZAC House must be provided with evidence of sub-Branch/District Council endorsement prior to the issue of the Notice of Meeting for the AGM is 9 November 2021. Evidence may be provided by submitting minutes of the meeting endorsing the motion to the State Secretary prior to this date.
