Circular 25/22 RSL and Schools Remember ANZAC Art Competition 2023
RSL NSW, the Department of Education, Catholic Schools NSW and the Association of Independent Schools NSW have launched an art competition to acknowledge the 70th anniversary of the RSL and Schools Remember ANZAC Commemoration.
The commemoration takes place annually at the Anzac Memorial in Hyde Park, with the formal proceedings delivered entirely by school students. The service aims to educate and encourage younger Australians to learn about Australia’s military history, whilst paying respect to the service and sacrifice of servicemen and servicewomen.
RSL NSW has asked all NSW-based schools to submit a maximum of two artworks per school for judging by a panel consisting of representatives from the NSW Education Standards Authority, Art Gallery of NSW, RSL NSW and the Anzac Memorial Veteran Artist in Residence. Two artworks will be selected for the cover of the 2023 service program. All finalists’ artwork will be displayed at the Anzac Memorial and included in the program.
RSL NSW sub-Branches are encouraged to engage with schools in your local area to promote the competition, which presents an opportunity to build relationships with schools and to promote the RSL’s purpose outside of prominent commemorations, like ANZAC Day. A range of promotional material has been developed for your use and is available here.
This competition closes to schools on 16 September 2022 and all NSW school students are eligible to submit an entry.
