President Update – 3 February 2020

Dear Members,

I am saddened to hear of the passing of Mr Dick Payten OAM, late President of the 7th Australian Division AIF Association. Dick served his country during WWII as a member of the 2/6 Field Regiment most notably in the Middle East and during the Kokoda campaign.

Dick was a well-respected member of the ex-service community, attending many commemoration services and other events, in recent times as the sole WWII veteran able to attend. He never missed an opportunity to remind us all of the debt we owe to those comrades of his that did not return from the war and recently took to reciting the poems Mates and Fuzzy Wuzzy Angels to emphasise the point. Dick was active in a number of organisations and his commitment, leadership, common sense and good cheer will be missed but not forgotten.

Lest We Forget.

Yours,

Ray James
Acting President
