State Secretary Newsletter – 1 August 2018
Extraordinary Congress 2018
For information to sub-Branch members and District Council Honorary Secretaries
In last week’s State Secretary Newsletter, it was announced details regarding the Extraordinary Congress 2018 would be forthcoming this week. We have also heard your feedback about the time members need to review the new constitution and we are looking at moving the special congress to end-November, increasing planned member engagement and opportunities for feedback.
We acknowledge that is only one month, but we are also cognisant of the scrutiny we are all under from government and regulators to repair our organisation as quickly as possible. There is a pressing need to follow new legislation in a timely manner and a new Constitution before the end of 2018 will be a strong signal of our commitment to repair and rebuilding public trust.
Further updates regarding Congress will be distributed in future State Secretary Newsletters.
Invictus Games 2018 – Fly the Flag and Bridge Climb
For information and circulation to sub-Branch members
On Friday, 17 August, Invictus Games Sydney 2018 will launch the ‘Fly the Flag’ and BridgeClimb events. Hosting an event for ‘Fly the Flag’ is a great way for sub-Branches to show support of the Games.
If your sub-Branch is hosting a ‘Fly the Flag’ event or joining the BridgeClimb, please email news@rslnsw.org.au as soon as possible as the ABC has expressed interest in covering a regional sub-Branch hosting the ‘Fly the Flag’ event. We cannot guarantee ABC media coverage; however, we will pass on details of participating sub-Branches. Could you also include a point of contact in your sub-Branch, who is willing to coordinate any activity with the ABC.
We will photograph, and video members participating in the BridgeClimb and share these through our social media channels. Knowing who is climbing and the scheduled climb time will allow us to capture members making their Invictus mark.
Find out how your sub-Branch can participate in a ‘Fly the Flag’ event here and BridgeClimb event here.
