State Secretary Newsletter – 18 September 2019
Last Friday we sent the 2019 State Congress Agenda to all District Councils and sub-Branches by post. Yesterday we posted the agenda on the RSL NSW website.
The pack includes two annexures: motions for congress (Annexure A) and the proposed new constitution (Annexure B). This final version of the new constitution includes minor corrections drawn from the forum of District Council representatives held at ANZAC House on 3 September. A table of these corrections is now available on the RSL NSW website Constitution page along with the notice, motions and constitution themselves (click here).
All sub-Branches and District Councils should register online for congress by Thursday, 17 October (click here). If you need help with your registration, please contact the Support Unit at firstname.lastname@example.org or 1300 679 775. As always, financial assistance is available for those sub-Branches and District Councils requiring it to make the trip to Albury.
Members should also be aware that eight of the 11 draft standard operating procedures (SOPs) are now available for review on the Constitution page of the RSL NSW website, along with all feedback received so far. The remaining three SOPs are being fine-tuned to ensure the drafts we present to members are of a high quality. They cover:
- Budgets, Accounts & Financial Reporting
- Sub-Branch Property Dealings
- Sub-Branch Administrative Matters (please note this final SOP contains mostly miscellaneous items and may ultimately be split and incorporated into other SOPs)
My thanks to those who have already submitted feedback. Additional comments should continue to be sent to your District Councils who are collating input for forwarding to ANZAC House.
Today we have uploaded a video interview with Christine Dartnell, Honorary Secretary and Treasurer of Riverina District Council, to the RSL NSW website and Facebook page along with a transcript (click here). The interview touches on the SOPs and the future of District Councils.
We have recently seen an increase in questions about upcoming membership renewals. Please be advised that I will be issuing a circular next week to address the renewal process.
Member Advantage Program
This week I have informed all sub-Branches and those members registered to receive ANZAC House emails that the Member Advantage Program will be ending on 30 September. Based on high costs and low uptake, the Board made the decision it was not in the best interests of the League to continue funding the program. Please refer to circular C09/19 on the RSL NSW website for more information (click here).
New Website Survey
The member survey on the new RSL NSW website remains open until this Friday. It includes six short questions on the quality of the redesign and how well it represents the League. You can access it by clicking here.
