Volunteer Welfare / Support Roles During Invictus Games
RSL NSW is calling for expressions of interest for two suitably experienced volunteer welfare/support roles during the Invictus Games 2018 from October 20 – 27 (inclusive).
These two volunteer roles will be required to provide support for participating Australian ex-serving Invictus athletes and their families during the games.
Some support may involve addressing sensitive physical and mental health issues and we are looking for one female and one male volunteer as a result. This will ensure the specific needs of competitors and their families are met.
Transport, accommodation and a daily meal allowance will be provided. NSW country residents are welcome to apply and transport costs from regional NSW will be covered.
Previous welfare or community support experience especially in the service or veteran community will be highly regarded. Successful applicants will need to have police and working with children checks.

ANZAC Day Fundraising for Invictus Games Sydney 2018
Sub-Branches and Auxiliaries are asked to return unsold Invictus Games Appeal tokens together with volunteer ID cards and completed collection sheets to RSL NSW Fundraising, ANZAC House, 245 Castlereagh St, Sydney NSW 2000 by no later than June 18.
Funds must be banked directly into the following bank account:

RSL NSW sub-Branch Email Addresses
Thank you to sub-Branches who have activated their sub-Branch email address. Most of these have been activated. There are still some sub-Branches that haven’t done this.
From 1 June all correspondence from State Branch will be directed to this email address exclusively. We will discontinue using other email addresses on 1 June 2018. This makes it critical for sub-Branches to activate their accounts to receive all State Branch communication.
Members and sub-Branches are still able to retain and use existing email addresses however official communication from State Branch to sub-Branches will be via the RSL NSW provided email address from 1 June.
Sub-Branch Support Fund
RSL NSW State Branch has received 70 enquiries about this directive, most of which have now been responded to and resolved. Some sub-Branches have had their contributions revised, some have indicated that they do not need the level of funding allocated and some have received extensions on payment dates.
As at the time of writing, RSL NSW has received approximately 25% of the payments due from sub-Branches. $396,643 was distributed to sub-Branches in urgent need between 14/04/18 and 23/04/18. The next distribution will soon be disbursed to approximately 13 sub-Branches.
If sub-Branches are in need of funds please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 1300 679 775 and we will make an urgent allocation of the remaining funds to enable your sub-Branch to continue its important work.

Revocation of Charitable Fundraising Authority
Following the recent State Branch directive to sub-Branches to surrender individual charitable fundraising authorities, State Branch is in the process of lodging, in consultation with NSW Fair Trading, the relevant documentation to have all sub-Branches specifically named and included under the RSL NSW charitable fundraising authority.
Once the suspension on fundraising is lifted and fundraising recommences, all sub-Branches will conduct future fundraising appeals under the RSL NSW authority. If you have not yet surrendered your fundraising authority to NSW Fair Trading please ensure you do so as soon as possible.
ANZAC House Phone Calls
RSL NSW and RSL DefenceCare switchboards have been combined and both numbers are now answered by the same team (this team does not answer the dedicated sub-Branch and member support number).
In the 3 weeks leading up to ANZAC Day, telephone calls averaged 341 a week – approximately 68 calls each day. Many of these calls are complex and involve spending time with the caller to ascertain their needs and deal with problems and stressful situations.
A quarter of the calls to our main numbers came from sub-Branches. As we now have a dedicated support number for members and sub-Branches, we would appreciate if you could let all your members know about the direct phone number for their enquiries – 1300 679 775.
This number goes straight through to a dedicated support team. This will ensure enquiries are dealt with by specialist team members and free up the main numbers for more general enquiries.
