The official NSW ANZAC Day Dawn Service is held at the Cenotaph in Martin Place Sydney at 4.30am which is believed to have been the approximate time at which the first Australians waded ashore at ANZAC Cove.

To align with the Public Health Order, the NSW Department of Premier and Cabinet has allocated limited spectator space at the Sydney ANZAC Day Dawn Service at the Cenotaph in Martin Place.

Travelling to the Sydney CBD on ANZAC Day

ANZAC Day participants and spectators should consider all the available travel options when travelling to and from the CBD including public transport, driving with their group, using taxis and rideshare or walking for shorter trips. Please visit TransportNSW.info for further information.

Major roads in the Sydney CBD will be closed between 2am and 4pm on Sunday 25 April for the ANZAC Day Dawn Service in Martin Place and Sydney CBD March on Elizabeth Street. Parking restrictions will also be in effect on various roads throughout the city.  Motorists are encouraged to avoid unnecessary travel through the Sydney CBD as traffic will be heavy while closures are in place for commemorations. Accessible drop-off and pick-up zones for guests will be located at:

  • Wynyard Street, Southern side (Section A guests)
  • Corner of 28 Castlereagh Street and Martin Place (Section B guests)

Travel on public transport is free for veterans and their families. QR codes will be located at the exit of key CBD train stations and light rail stops to register your travel and assist with contact tracing.

Media Accreditation

Media accreditation is required for members of the media covering the Dawn Service and Anzac Day March in the Sydney CBD. Accreditation applies to ALL media and Defence Force photographers and videographers for all Anzac Day events. Please complete this form and return by Thursday 15 April 2021.
