Circular 14/23 ANZAC Day 2023

ANZAC House can now provide advice regarding 2023 ANZAC Day Commemorations across the State, including the major events in the Sydney CBD. There is a range of information available on the RSL NSW ANZAC Day page that is now published here.

Commemorations across NSW

By now, sub-Branches should have contacted their local NSW Police Area Command and councils to commence planning commemorative events in their communities.

To ensure people in your community can access local commemorative event information, please add the details of your ANZAC Sunday, Dawn Service, and March events to the RSL NSW website by completing
this form.

Visitors to this page, including media, can search for events by location and map view.

ANZAC House has developed promotional posters and social media tiles to promote commemorative events. The event location and time information on the PDF posters can be edited to reflect local arrangements. If Honorary Secretaries require assistance to do this, please contact
support@rslnsw.org.au.

The promotional material can be found in the sub-Branch Portal Resource Centre

Major Sydney Commemorations

The following events will take place:

ANZAC House is corresponding directly with units/ships/squadrons/associations to provide event details for the Sydney CBD March, including registration. If you are the secretary of an association and you haven’t received this information, please complete this form.

Engaging with the veteran community

There are two significant anniversaries which sub-Branches may want to consider incorporating into ANZAC Day commemorations and community engagement activities:

  • 50th anniversary of the end of Australia’s participation in the Vietnam War
  • 70th anniversary of the signing of the Korean armistice

Sub-Branch Office Bearers might consider encouraging local veterans of the Korean and Vietnam wars to attend commemoration services.

Reunions

RSL NSW is committed to fostering camaraderie and mateship amongst its members and the wider veteran community.

Member Recruitment Toolkit

ANZAC Day presents a great opportunity to encourage the wider veteran community to join RSL NSW and to connect with local sub-Branches. An initiative of the RSL NSW Strategic Plan, the Member
Recruitment Toolkit
was launched in November 2022 and includes a range of promotional recruitment resources, including social media tiles, for use by sub-Branches.

The resources are available on this page.

Fundraising

A limited number of tokens formerly owned by WBI are available to sub-Branches and can be ordered online. Sub-Branches will be required to pay a small packing ($0.25 cents per token) and freight charge, however there is no charge for the tokens. Please visit the Fundraising page on the RSL NSW website for simple instructions on how to create an account and place an order.

Sub-Branches are encouraged to fundraise with a view to promoting the ANZAC Appeal and the League’s presence in communities across NSW.

Further information

Please visit the ANZAC Day 2023 page of the RSL NSW website to find all the ANZAC Day information and resources which will continue to be updated as details become available.
