Circular 68/23 Last chance to nominate Veteran Support Fund Initiatives for 2024

Sub-Branch leaders are encouraged to work with all charities and not-for-profits that align with our charitable purpose to nominate initiatives for funding through the VSF. Once included in the VSF, all RSL NSW sub-Branches can contribute to funding the initiative.

If sub-Branches receive requests to fund initiatives that align with our charitable purpose, it is up to the members attached to the sub-Branch to determine whether the initiative will be nominated for the Veteran Support Fund. However, direct donations and funding to other organisations have ceased under the new Standard Operating Procedure 1 (SOP1).

Sub-Branches are reminded that charitable funds cannot be used to support non-RSL branded activities unless the initiative is approved for inclusion in the Veteran Support Fund by the District Presidents’ Council. Charitable funds include investment income.

By funding another organisation via the Veteran Support Fund, RSL NSW can safeguard appropriate sponsorship and/or commercial arrangements and ensure that our contribution to supporting veterans and their families is appropriately recognised.

If a sub-Branch wishes to nominate charitable initiatives for inclusion in the (VSF) for 2024, please complete the Funding Proposal Application Form in the sub-Branch Portal and submit it to your respective District President, who will subsequently submit all nominations from the District to the District Presidents’ Council (DPC) for review.

The form must be submitted to your District President by 30 September 2023 in preparation for consideration at the District Presidents’ Council meeting. All VSF initiatives for 2024 will be confirmed and published on 1 November 2023.

If you have any questions regarding the new Standard Operating Procedure 1 (SOP1) or the Veteran Support Fund, please contact support@rslnsw.org.au or 1300 679 775.
